Cultural Policy in Zlatibor County - a Second Step (follow-up: completed)

 description:  Undertitled "Towards local cultural reform in the cities of Arilje, Bajina Basta and Pozega", the project represents a continuation and extension of the 2002 Policies for Culture pilot project in Uzice to three cities located in the surrounding Zlatibor County.

The project aims to bring to fruition the following local cultural strategy development objectives:
- Establishing awareness and knowledge about problems and possible solutions concerning models, instruments and strategies of cultural policy through group interviews with decision makers, cultural workers, artists and other creators of public opinion, in three separate cities (Arilje, Bajina Basta, Pozega), and comparing the results with the 2002 case study
- Organizing two local debates about models, instruments and strategies of cultural policy in each town and developing papers for strategic action
- Institutionalizing partnerships with the authorities in each municipality
- Organizing a regional debate in order to exchange knowledge and experiences in the area of partnership and cooperation between governmental, private and non-governmental sectors in order to shape local cultural policies and to establish a joint platform of all four municipalities (Arilje, Bajina Basta, Pozega together with Uzice)
- Organizing basic training for employees in culture in order to provide them with skills for project management and fundraising in culture
- Finalization of local cultural policy papers, and submitting these to the local governments in order to achieve final approval of policy document by local authorities.

PROJECT NEWS
27.05.2004 The policy paper resulted in the framework of the project is now available in English
Undertitled "Culture for social change and local community development", the paper summarizes the distinct strategic lines of cultural development in the three participating municipalities. Detailed documents will be submitted to local governments for reviewing and possible adoption.

21.05.2004 Cultural policy papers available now
Summary papers of the elaborated cultural policies for the cities of Arilje, Bajina Basta and Pozega are available now in Serbian. Attached as well the joint strategy dedicated to culturalisation - public scenery (also in Serbian). The English version will be available online shortly.
